Limonene

Citrus, mood-lifting

Terpene

What is limonene?

Limonene is the bright, fresh citrus terpene — the smell of lemon rinds and orange peel, and the second most common terpene in cannabis. It's what gives many 'happy' and energetic strains their sunny character.

Effects

Limonene is associated with uplifting, mood-boosting effects. It's the terpene most often linked to stress relief and the euphoric, clear-headed feeling of sativa-leaning strains. In animal studies it has shown antidepressant and anti-anxiety properties, though the human evidence is thinner.

On a COA, limonene-rich flower is a good sign if you're after an upbeat, daytime-friendly profile.
