Geraniol

Rose, sweet — the antioxidant

Terpene

What is geraniol?

Geraniol is the sweet, rosy terpene found in roses, lemongrass, geraniums, and lavender — and in small amounts in many cannabis strains. It's the scent that makes some flower read almost fruity-floral.

Effects

Geraniol is among the better-studied minor terpenes. Reviews highlight antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial activity, and some research has explored its potential against certain cancers — though nearly all of it is in lab and animal models, with no human clinical trials yet.

Research note

The evidence gap matters: geraniol's reputation in cannabis circles sometimes outruns what the science supports. In a strain's profile it contributes a pleasant floral lift, and its chemistry is genuinely interesting — just don't expect miracles from the flower alone.
