Parkinson's Disease
Some people report tremor relief, but trials are small and THC can worsen cognition and balance in this population.
Neurology Emerging
What the research says
Interest in cannabis for Parkinson's comes largely from patient surveys — a notable share of people with Parkinson's report using it and feeling it helps tremor and stiffness. The controlled trials are small, short, and mixed: some found slight tremor improvement with THC, others found no difference. CBD has shown some benefit for sleep and for Parkinson's-related psychosis in early studies.
This population is uniquely vulnerable to THC's downsides — it can impair balance (raising fall risk, already high in Parkinson's) and worsen thinking.
The honest caveats
Parkinson's is a neurodegenerative disease managed by a neurologist. If you're considering cannabis, do it as an explicit conversation — THC's cognitive and balance effects are a real safety issue here, and CBD-only products are the more conservative starting point. Expect modest, person-dependent benefits at best.
Compounds to explore
These are the compounds — terpenes and cannabinoids — that the research connects to this condition. They are starting points for reading a COA or choosing a product, not prescriptions. Each has its own guide with more detail.
Cannabinoid CBD Studied for sleep and psychosis in Parkinson's; generally well tolerated. Cannabinoid THC Reported to help tremor in some people, but raises cognition and fall risk. Cannabinoid THC-V Preclinical studies have explored it for tremors in neurological conditions — early-stage only.
